The go-ahead has been given for one of the largest investment projects in the history of the Diesel Technic Group. Over the coming years, the company’s headquarters in Kirchdorf will undergo extensive expansion and modernisation. The project will lay the infrastructural foundations for further growth and more efficient logistics processes, whilst strengthening the site in the long term. Customers will benefit from even greater availability and even faster delivery of DT Spare Parts brand products – made possible by optimised intralogistics.
Almost 100 million euros for the future of the site
An investment of nearly 100 million euros has been earmarked for the site expansion. The construction period will last around three years and will involve numerous measures to expand storage, logistics and office space.
At the heart of the project is an automated high-bay pallet warehouse measuring around 8,500 m² and standing 40 metres high, with a capacity of just under 70,000 pallets. The facility is complemented by a four-storey, 26-metre-high logistics tower. This will house areas for dispatch, order picking and storage, as well as additional office space for the logistics department.
“With this project, we are making a targeted investment in the performance, competitiveness and long-term development of the Diesel Technic Group. The expansion underlines our confidence in the Kirchdorf site and lays the groundwork for continued reliable, efficient and customer-focused growth in the future. In doing so, we are investing not only in modern buildings and technologies, but also in attractive working conditions for our staff,” emphasises CEO Dr.-Ing. Steffen Vondran.
Modern infrastructure and new jobs
The new logistics infrastructure also includes a loading yard with ten lorry docks, eight CEP docks and an electric charging point for lorries. In addition, a photovoltaic system with a capacity of 1,400 kWp is being installed.
Despite the high level of automation, supporting staff remains at the heart of the project. Modern ‘goods-to-person’ solutions and ergonomically designed workstations reduce physical strain and improve working conditions. As part of the expansion, new staff are continually being recruited – particularly within the logistics department.
Phased implementation by 2029
Implementation will follow a clearly defined timetable. Once the groundworks have begun, the building works will commence. This will be followed by the installation of the high-bay warehouse. The entire project is scheduled for completion in mid-2029.
With the project now underway, a new chapter is beginning for the Kirchdorf site. This extensive expansion strengthens the Diesel Technic Group’s future viability, creates scope for further growth and lays the foundations for high-performance, sustainable and modern logistics processes in the coming decades.
