Turbo chargers are used for charging combustion engines and increase the power output by precompressing  the air required for combustion of the fuel. The increase in the air flow rate produces an increase in the power density of the engine and thus contributes to reducing the cubic capacity in modern combustion engines. 

Combustion engines with turbo chargers are characterised by improved efficiency and lower, specific fuel consumption.

Due to the high thermal loads on turbo chargers during operation, very high demands are made on the materials used and on construction, in order to ensure lasting, trouble-free operation.

All DT brand turbo chargers meet the highest quality standards. The turbine wheel has an extremely resilient, highly temperature-resistant metal alloy, to ensure the greatest possible stability, even at maximum engine load.  

The compressor wheel is characterised by a special metal alloy. Due to its low weight, this alloy leads to a rapid increase in the rotational speed of the charger when the vehicle accelerates. Thus the combustion engine has a large amount of combustion air available short-term when required for a spontaneous response.  

The compressor housing is also made of aluminium and therefore optimally thermally conductive and corrosion resistant. The cast steel turbine housing also withstands high exhaust temperatures.

The balanced turbine shaft, made of alloyed, high-tensile steel, is highly resilient.  Precision manufactured plain bearing bushings with a high-quality surface finish and durable metal bearings ensure a long service life.

All DT Spare Parts turbo chargers are balanced at 100,000 min-1. Random samples undergo the so-called Hot Gas test at 160,000 min-1 under real operating conditions. These special testing procedures under extreme stress make it possible to ensure the highest quality standards in mass production.
