Support of vocational education in the UAE

Diesel Technic (M.E.) FZE supports Abu Dhabi Vocational Education & Training Institute (ADVETI) with a donation of IT server units

Diesel Technic (M.E.) FZE is a subsidiary of the Diesel Technic Group, a leading supplier for spare parts in the Independent Aftermarket (IAM) for commercial vehicles. The company is located in the Jebel Ali Free Zone since 1995 and has 67 employees. The Diesel Technic Group knows that the education of the local associates is a key for future economic success.

Besides internal trainings with colleagues from the German headquarters the company knows about the necessity of the support of the vocational education & training of the local youth. After the virtualization of the IT system in Dubai it was decided to donate the servers to the Abu Dhabi Vocational Education & Training Institute (ADVETI), which is managed by GIZ (German Association for International Cooperation).

The German Director of ADVETI - Al Ain, Mr. Reiner Behrend, and Mr. Khalid Al Shamsi - IT Assistant, visited Diesel Technic M.E.’s premises in Jebel Ali to receive the 12 donated server units.

Mr. Khalid Al Shamsi explained that ADVETI Al Ain will use the servers for their IT courses to broaden the knowledge and skills of its IT students as they have now also “hardware” to configure, test and get trained on. This makes the courses more practical and interesting for the students.

ADVETI educates UAE students since 2008 in four vocational fields: information technology, design and applied management, industrial technology and medical and health care. Teaching and qualification for the diplomas are orientated to the same standards as used for the German vocational education – one of the leading educational systems in the world”, says Mr. Reiner Behrend.
